You’d be hard-pressed to find a product lineage with more of a cult following than the ASICS GEL-Kayano. First launched in 1993 by designer Toshikazu Kayano as a performance running shoe, it promised “more energy to move body and mind.” Three decades later, the GEL-Kayano 20 (yes, that’s 20 iterations) keeps that spirit alive – just now in full blacked-out ninja mode.
Foot Locker and ASICS are dropping the black GEL-Kayano 20 in men’s sizes only, first at the brand-new Foot Locker Liverpool store on Friday, 23rd January, and online at Footlocker.co.uk from 20th January. More colourways are coming to the UK and Europe in February, but this all-black version is the one you want if you’re serious about stealth.
To celebrate the Liverpool store opening, Foot Locker is hosting an in-store event on the 23rd. Local media, tastemakers, and content creators will get the first look at the GEL-Kayano 20, with Scouse styling tips for successfully sporting the all-black silhouette. DJ Sham Steele will provide the soundtrack, and there’ll be giveaways and competitions throughout the weekend.
