F/CE sets the standard with AW26 preview

F/CE is one of those brands we’re frankly guilty of not talking about enough. Everything about it ticks the boxes: oversized, technical outerwear, tasteful minimalist styling, relaxed silhouettes – it’s exactly the kind of stuff that gets us genuinely excited. Yet somehow, we’ve neglected to give this Japanese brand the attention it deserves.

Today, that stops. We’ve just received a first look at the F/CE AW26 collection, and it’s nothing short of outstanding.

Head over to the brand’s Instagram, and it’s immediately clear they don’t mess around. Their SS26 lookbook, titled WHIPLASH, plays out like a mad Art Deco project – the gear is incredible, but the settings, with their symmetry and leading lines, are just as captivating. That bold, artistic direction continues into AW26, in a collection titled WREKONIZE.

Where SS26 naturally focused on lightweight, breathable silhouettes, WREKONIZE shifts the attention to outerwear – and it’s by no means modest. F/CE are already famed for their coats, but this season might well house their strongest efforts yet.

AW26 brings mental Primaloft jackets with modular collars, Pertex parkas, detachable-sleeve MA-1 bombers – not to mention collaborations teased with TAION and Nanga – each one looking as good as the next. Put simply, AW26 is shaping up to be another coat-heavy year for the brand, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Alongside the outerwear comes a bounty of finely crafted trousers, shirts, knitwear, and accessories. Standouts for us include technical wool trousers, fleece Pertex hoodies, checked field shirts, and a knit jumper featuring a stunning graphic of the Finnish wilderness – which, naturally, brings us to our next point…

AW26 is deeply inspired by Finland’s design legacy. References to Alvar Aalto’s (Famous Finnish architect) poetic functionalism, Artek’s (Finnish furniture company) humanist modernism, and Nordic architectural evolution inform the collection’s vision.

These architecturally-led silhouettes, modular systems, breathable dual-layer fabrics, and tactile materials are largely what make the collection so strong. Not to mention the beautiful colour palette of brick reds, forest greens, birch neutrals, and urban greys that tie the release together.

All in all, it’s one of the most exciting AW26 previews we’ve seen thus far, and it only reinforces just how guilty we feel for not giving F/CE the airtime it deserves. So, to the brand, and to anyone reading: our apologies. Consider this a fresh start – you’ll be hearing a lot more from us about F/CE from here on out…
