There’s a prestigious subset of brands that captivate you regardless of whether you care about what they actually make. Even if you can’t drive, you can’t deny the allure of an old Land Rover. If you can’t tell the time, you still appreciate the craftsmanship of a Rolex. And even if you’ve never worn Lycra, it’s impossible not to be completely absorbed by the beautiful design of Pas Normal Studios’ gear.
The Copenhagen-based cycling brand has a knack for the kind of design that, somehow, only the Danes seem to possess. Refined silhouettes, impeccable materials, and some of the finest colour palettes we’ve ever seen from any brand, ever. Pas Normal Studios’ gear is so good that limiting it strictly to cycling feels wrong – and it seems the brand has heard our rallying cry, announcing a new collection titled Off-Race.
The new SS26 collection focuses on gear designed for both on- and off-bike situations. The kind of garments that feel cool to wear while ripping through town on your pub bike, but also don’t look out of place when you’re standing at the bar. Everything has been designed to feel effortless in motion, but also completely natural when you’re just wearing it for the day-to-day.
The 3L Poncho, for instance, will keep you dry in a downpour without making you look like a walking bin bag. It’s loose, helmet-compatible, and genuinely stylish – a testament to that type of Danish design we mentioned earlier.
The Utility Jacket is lighter, weather-resistant, and comes with an assortment of pockets, including a magnet-closing one on the chest, a large back pocket, vents for airflow, and subtle reflective logos. In short, it’s a streetwear-tinged jacket that hints you cycle, rather than shouting, “I wear Lycra, run tubeless tyres, and yes, I am dying to show you my Strava.”
Another item we’re a big fan of is the Light Tech Shorts – a beautifully minimalist pair of shorts equipped with stretch fabric, an adjustable belt, and practical pockets, meaning you can wear them anywhere – whether it’s a hot ride or a hotter afternoon back in the beer garden of that very same pub.
There’s plenty of other great bits in the release too, including half zip fleeces, technical skirts, caps, shirts and more…
What makes Off-Race feel so right is how it takes cycling’s practical, slightly nerdy roots and turns them into something we all want to wear. Everything has a purpose, nothing is over the top, and importantly, it all manages to utilise that gorgeous design language. Pas Normal Studios has finally delivered the collection all of us casual cyclists have been hoping for: clever, considered, and utterly unpretentious.
