Fera have an unreal knack for making the most unappetising parts of the British outdoors seem exciting – observing their campaign visuals & films will have you genuinely yearning for the smell of fresh cow shit. The brand has often been described as a love letter to the British outdoors, and it’s one of the most pride-inducing love letters we’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
Aside from Fera constantly reminding us of the beauty that lies just beyond Britain’s A-roads, they also produce clothing designed to tackle it. And funnily enough, they’ve just put their head through the barn door to tell us about their initial offerings for SS26.
The first release is unimaginatively titled ‘Drop 1’, but that’s where the drought of creativity starts, and ends. The collection spans 10 glorious items, cut from a multitude of fabrics, and interpreted in a quintessentially Fera colour palette.
The driving force behind the collection is a lineup of year-round workhorses – garments you can wear anytime, in any scenario: whether that be fishing, birdwatching, or just sprinting from a farmer unhappy with your choice of land to do either activity on.
The release also marks a national progression in Fera’s fabric journey, with this collection placing a focus on premium materials – including flannel sourced from Japanese textile mills and a beautiful knitted cotton.
Basically every item is a standout in this collection, but if someone had a pitchfork to our chest, we’d say our top three are the denim herringbone trousers, knitted rugby shirt (yes knitted) and the flannel shirt made from that fancy Japanese fabric we just mentioned.
Oh, and the camouflage caps are super good too… As is the waxed jacket.. And the duo of fleeces.
If you somehow missed the memo, everything in this release is impressive – and a clear sign of Fera continuing to push forward in both design and sourcing, rather than simply relying on their knack for nostalgia-driven garments (which, to be honest, would be enough to keep us coming back anyway).
Drop 1 is a great start for what’s shaping up to be another standout season from the most exciting British outdoor brand of this century.
