New season Nanamica lands at The Garbstore

Each season, Nanamica embarks on a perilous 6,000-mile voyage from Japanese shores to Britain’s mushy brown beaches. Every year we half-expect the cargo to be lost at sea, swallowed by swell and spray – but once again, word has reached us: this year’s journey was a success.

Nanamica has safely moored at The Garbstore, carrying a bounty of meticulously crafted Japanese outerwear – technical, considered, and built for the exact kind of weather you’d likely encounter if you genuinely attempted to sail from Japan to Notting Hill.

This new season goodness is brimming with typically fantastic Nanamica colours & cuts as well as an abundance of beautiful materials, ranging from selvedge denim & cotton twill to the brand’s unbelievably breathable COOLMAX wonder fabric.

At the more technical end of the spectrum, there’s the Nylon Cruiser Jacket, featuring taped seams, adjustable hem tabs, GORE-TEX fabric and pockets upon pockets upon pockets. It’s pretty much the ideal piece of outerwear for dealing with Britain’s unpredictable weather – lowkey enough to wear to the office, but capable enough that it could get you up a mountain during one of February’s never-ending showers.

And if you work in one of those establishments that require you to arrive in a collar, there’s a host of smart garments on offer, too. Club Jacket Blazers, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts, and cropped satin jackets – all constructed in Nanamica’s signature formal, but somehow informal way.

Another highlight of the collection is legwear, which includes a pair of Selvedge Denim Pants, cut from a beautifully dark one-wash piece of Japanese denim and a set of khaki Cotton Twill Deck Pants.

All told, it’s a drop from Nanamica that lands exactly where it should, hitting every note in just the right way. And we’re buzzing that the cargo avoided a watery grave and has instead made itself perfectly at home on The Garbstore’s rails, right where it belongs.
