PALACE & Vans unveil Skate Shoe of the Year

Certain things in life can only be described as special – that hit of warm air when you first step off a plane in a tropical country. An ice-cold bottle of Diet Coke when you’ve got a stinking hangover. Finding a tenner on the floor of a public toilet. And perhaps most euphoric of all – when PALACE announce a new collaboration. It doesn’t matter if it’s in partnership with adidas, Ralph Lauren, or Stella Artois – PALACE collabs are always special.

And as it turns out, today is one of those special days. The South London institution has just unveiled a fresh link-up with none other than Vans.

The two have come together to present the Vans Low 2, a limited-edition collaboration engineered for genuine skate performance but wrapped in co-branded, London-meets-California aesthetics. In other words, it looks classy, but has enough credentials to withstand the grim and grimy realities of UK skating.

The Vans Low 2 by PALACE sits on Vans’ most advanced vulcanised low-top platform, delivering elite impact protection, durability and grip without sacrificing boardfeel. PopCush™ insoles provide maximum impact protection with precise board control, while DuraCap™ underlays reinforce high-wear zones so they don’t fall apart after a fortnight.

As always, PALACE have injected a wealth of character into the collab, self-crowning the Vans Low 2 as “Skate Shoe of the Year”, a term used in a ceremony-style video campaign starring Vans Skate Team riders Danny Brady and Rory Milanes. More on that here.

The silhouette arrives in two custom black and ecru colourways designed in collaboration with PALACE and finished with co-branded details that tap into the brand’s irreverent visual language. The result is a performance-driven skate shoe that merges Vans’ technical heritage with PALACE’s distinctly British, slightly chaotic street sensibility.

It’s another one for PALACE to place in their extensive collab history books. Hats off to everyone involved, as always.

The Vans PALACE Low 2 is set to release on the 27th of February from PALACE Skateboards
