Six of the Best – New footwear releases

It’s that time of the year when we become bombarded with an onslaught of newness. Every hour of every day, we’re inundated with new Spring Summer collections, exclusive collaborations, and footwear releases. We’re not moaning – we prayed for times like these during the never-ending sale season from November to January – but sometimes it can be hard to filter through what’s good and what’s not.

In the realm of footwear, we’ll be honest – there’s a lot of bad stuff being put out. Re-releases of trainers nobody wore in the first place, pointless collaborations, and colourways that even Stevie Wonder would refuse to wear. But for every ten bad footwear releases, there’s one good one – and that’s what we’re here to tell you about.

Here are six of our favourite new footwear releases, ranging from low hikers and approach shoes to mules and running trainers.

Danner – Trail Field

We’ve never had a bad word to say about Danner, and the new Trail Field only reinforces our love for the American brand. Just look at that rich, hairy suede and the luxuriously plush leather sock liner. Outrageously good.

Galibier – Approach Shoe

These Galibier shoes are so new, they haven’t even hit shelves yet – assuming you’re reading this before March 17th. We love the colour and the clever side-foot reinforcement on these. Far more interesting than the Scarpa or La Sportiva approach shoes all your mates are rocking.

Merrell 1TRL – Moab 2 Slide

Merrell 1TRL has just restocked their fan-favourite Moab 2 Slide mule – and dropped this stunning new Comet colourway. These won’t stick around for long, so if you want a pair, we’d suggest heading over to their website pronto.

New Balance – 990v4

New Balance are dropping new models and colourways like nobody’s business, but we always come back to the 990v4. Everything about this shoe is perfect – the shape, the materials, the profile – and this colourway only makes it shine even more.

Nike – Air Max 95 I-95

It’s finally happened. Nike have made the perfect shoe for all the kitchen talkers turned hill walkers. You’re soon to see these on the feet of a Scouser atop every summit in the North West. Heavy webs them lad.

New Balance – FuelCell SuperComp Elite V5

Clearly, someone in the New Balance running department has been inspired by the discarded Fruit Salad wrappers on their desk. These are meant to be a fast pair of running shoes, and they absolutely look it. And yes, they’re even brighter in real life.
