Five items of footwear we’ve got our eye on

Footwear is great, isn’t it? We definitely think so. Without footwear, Proper probably wouldn’t exist. And without Proper – well, you’d all be doomed, wouldn’t you?

Over the years, we’ve documented more trainer releases than we’ve had hot dinners. We’ve dug into hyper-niche footwear histories. We’ve performance-tested things up mountains, through bogs, across city streets and, even in pubs. If it covers your toes, chances are we’ve had an opinion on it at some point in time.

But here’s the thing: while we’re busy obsessing over one pair, we’re always checking out another. It might sound unfaithful – and perhaps it is – but shoes do that to you. They’re highly addictive. You tell yourself you’re sorted for the season, and then suddenly you’re going through the odds and sods department in every footwear retailer this side of the Mississippi.

Shoes, in short, are a slippery slope. The more you have, the more you want. So in the spirit of responsible enabling, here are five bits of footwear we’ve currently got our eye on.

C.P. Company x Asics Gel-Quantum 360 I

C.P. Company & Asics have joined forces a few times before, but this recent partnership has produced their best work yet. There’s something distinctly Kiko Kostadinov about the design of these, while still remaining unquestionably C.P. Company. Absolute belters.

Quiet Mountain Cafe x Creek Colorado

Getting hold of anything Creek is impossibly hard, and their footwear is pretty much a myth entirely. But we’ll let you in on a little secret – there’s a handful of these delightful Quiet Mountain collab Colorados sitting on a Japanese retailer right now. Buy while you can, worry about the shipping later.

Nike Daybreak SP

Ever since reading this write-up by Nike ACG, we’ve desperately felt the need for a pair of Nike LDVs. The only thing is, an original pair in good nick costs thousands of pounds. For now, these Daybreak SPs are the closest thing we’ve got, and the desert-themed colourway is top draw.

Danner Trail Field

We’ve been patiently waiting for these ever since spotting them in Danner’s Paris showroom, and now, finally, they’re here. Just look at that hairy suede & beautifully plush leather sockliner – the wait was definitely worth it.

Diemme – Bardolino

The Bardolino is Diemme’s latest creation, and you can tell as much by looking at it. These are futuristic as anything, and somehow Diemme have got that bright green midsole to work flawlessly with the traditional brown upper. Well played.
