Seven pairs of ON Cloud for the sunshine

Despite what the name might imply, ON Cloud makes some of the best footwear going for bright, sun-soaked days. And that’s largely down to the perfect concoction of featherweight materials, breathable construction, responsive cushioning, and fresh colourways the brand has got going on. In short, ONs are best saved for days when the only clouds in sight are the ones beneath your toes.

Once the weather’s right, what you wear them for is up to you. Lazy afternoons basking in the Baltic Triangle? Blitzing around L8 on your leccy peddler? Or heading up Duke Street for a big screen? The choice is yours.

We’re well aware you don’t need a Liverpool postcode – or a purple bin – to lace up a pair of ONs. But to ignore the city that first put them on the map, and that continues to set the style agenda for the rest of the country, would be nothing short of criminal.

So whether you’re a scouser looking for a fresh pair to take to Spain, or just someone looking to add a bit of cushioning to your wardrobe, here are seven of our favourite pairs of ON Cloud from our mates over at SEVENSTORE.

ON Cloudvista 2

When we think of ON, we think of the Cloudvista 2. It’s one of the brand’s most sought-after silhouettes, and for good reason – the Cloudvista is about as wearable as a piece of footwear can be. Ridiculously clean, plenty of cushioning, and in this pair’s case: one of the best ON colourways going – that rich brown mesh is simply fantastic.

ON Cloudmonster

Sort of like the Cloudvista’s older brother, who’s been abusing steroids for the last five years, the Cloudmonster is ON’s answer to those who require serious levels of cushioning. Either that, or you’re just after gaining an extra half an inch in height.

ON Cloudflow 5 AD

A fairly recent addition to the ON roster, the Cloudflow 5 AD looks like it could burgle your house without you ever knowing. That stealthy triple-black colourway is ridiculously sharp – slick, subtle, and borderline tactical. We’d be willing to bet they weigh next to nothing, too.

ON Cloudtilt Remix

Now here’s a properly summery pair of trainers. The Cloudtilt Remix takes the original formula laid out by the Cloudtilt and, well… remixes it. What that actually means is the addition of a series of translucent panels layered across the upper. And in our opinion, it’s one of the best remixes we’ve heard in a long while. 10/10.

ON Cloudboom Max

Remember what we said about the Cloudmonster? Yeah, that’s sort of what’s happened here with the Cloudboom – only this time the steroids have been mixed with a potent hallucinogen. The result? An incredibly eye-catching purple and yellow colourway that’s loud in all the right ways.

ON Cloudsurfer Max

The colourway on this pair of ON Cloudsurfer looks as if they’ve just emerged from an ocean in the Spanish Riviera – and incidentally, that’s exactly the sort of setting we think they’d look fantastic in. Lightweight, breathable, cushioned – everything you want from a pair of holiday trainers.

ON Cloudhorizon Waterproof 2

Now the ugly truth about living in the UK is that if you were to reserve your ON trainers only for sunny days, they’d stay looking brand new for about five years. And for that reason, ON have a roster of waterproof footwear – like this Cloudhorizon 2 – which is just as wearable in the pissing rain as it is in the beating sun.
