New Balance begins Grey Days celebrations

There are certain brands you associate with certain colours. Ferrari? Red. Hoover? Also red. UPS? Brown. National Geographic? Yellow. Ikea? Blue and yellow.

And grey? Well, that colour belongs firmly to New Balance.

What’s so impressive about New Balance owning the grey is that it’s a colour we see everywhere. On tables, chairs, fans, even the sky that hangs above our heads is usually grey. Grey is all around us, and yet, despite its total ubiquity, ask anyone whose colour it is and the answer is always the same. Not the sky. Not the city. Not the table beneath your keyboard. New Balance.

We imagine that it must be pretty hard for New Balance to resist releasing every silhouette they produce in grey, and only grey. So, in what we’re assuming is a kind of self-measured way to share their love for their colour, they’ve restricted their grey appreciation to a month-long celebration titled ‘Grey Days.’

New Balance’s relationship with grey stretches all the way back to the 1980s. While much of the running world embraced high saturation and neon hits, New Balance took a different route. Grey was practical. It blended with concrete, asphalt and jogging bottoms. It made sense for runners clocking miles through the city. What initially began as a functional decision has gone on to define New Balance’s visual identity.

The brand’s 2026 Grey Days celebration builds on their legacy with a global rollout of special-edition footwear and apparel across lifestyle, performance, Numeric, and kids ranges, all arriving gradually throughout May via New Balance stores, NewBalance.com and select retailers.

The month kicks off with the launch of the Grey Shop on May 1, bringing together new and existing styles in the brand’s signature palette. From there, fresh silhouettes arrive week by week – including new entries in the ABZORB line that nod to early-2000s running while pushing things forward visually, and the return of heritage-informed models adapted for modern skate and lifestyle wear.

The campaign itself pulls in a cross-generational cast of athletes and ambassadors, each lending their own personality to the celebrations.

So, if you’re still somehow wondering what exactly Grey Days is? We’ll tell you: Grey Days is a month-long celebration of the colour that’s been there all along – on the streets, in the skateparks, across the skylines, and most importantly of all, on shoes stamped with the words ‘New Balance.’
