TDR drops lightweight tailoring just in time for the heatwave

For years, we maintained that the two finest things to come out of West London were Heathrow Airport and Fuller’s Brewery. Then, in 2008, The Garbstore opened its doors in Notting Hill and immediately knocked the big airport off the list.

More recently, The Garbstore’s in-house label, TDR, has done the same to Fuller’s – because no amount of London Pride could ever deliver quite the same satisfaction as TDR’s impeccably crafted tailoring.

It’s fast become one of our favourite brands, and incidentally, much like a perfectly poured pint of Pride served in a wood-panelled boozer somewhere off Portobello Road, TDR prefers to keep things understated. The quality spreads by word of mouth, and those who know know.

Now, hot on the heels of its first two SS26 capsules, the latest news from TDR concerns drop number three.

Heading the release are four new iterations of the Double Pocket Grande Shirt, a relaxed refinement of one of TDR’s most beloved silhouettes. This time around, the shirt arrives in an exceptional Japanese double cloth cotton voile – a fabric so lightweight and breezy it’s never felt more relevant, particularly with the current heatwave sweeping Britain. You’d be forgiven for thinking TDR had been patiently waiting for this exact moment to release them.

Alongside the shipment of shirts comes the House Trophy Blouson, arriving in green, navy and yellow over-dyed Grantex cotton poplin. Inspired by the cropped workwear jackets of the 1950s, it’s the sort of silhouette that feels deeply woven into West London’s fabric – easy to imagine draped over the shoulders of some gruff-faced labourer propping up the bar of a Notting Hill boozer, steadily working through a few jars of London Pride after clocking off.

All in all, this latest release perfectly captures what TDR does best: relaxed tailoring executed with an obsessive attention to detail that’s become the brand’s calling card. Better still, it’s arrived at precisely the right moment – because when Britain decides to surprise us with an actual heatwave, this is exactly the sort of lightweight, easy clobber you want on your back.

Right then – we’re off to search for a sun-soaked corner of Manchester and because we’ve talked about it so much, a pint of London Pride too.
