It sounds ridiculous, we know. While everyone else is busy filling their baskets with shorts and T-shirts, we’re over here eyeing up heavily pocketed, waterproof, down-filled masterpieces at prices that would look very different come October. The savings available on winter outerwear at this time of year are genuinely hard to beat.
Now, we’re not suggesting you start wearing a giant down parka in June. Any coat you buy now is destined for storage, where it’ll spend the next six months in hibernation, patiently waiting for its moment. And when that moment arrives, you’ll have the immense satisfaction of telling anyone who’ll listen that you picked it up for less than half price back in summer.
Think of it as a long-term investment. A bit like buying stocks when they’re low – except instead of selling high, you get to feel properly smug instead.

A seriously good mango shade on this C.P. Company jacket. It looks great now, obviously, but give it six months, and it’ll really come into its own – standing out against a backdrop of grey skies, damp pavements and whatever remains of Britain’s foliage by then.
If you try and Wandering anywhere in this jacket in the current temperatures, you’ll spend most of the journey sweating. Far better to buy it at its current discounted price, hide it away in a cupboard, completely forget it exists, and then stumble across it in November like you’ve just received a very thoughtful gift from your past self.
