Back in the ’90s, Patrick was one of those brands that seemed to make its way onto the feet of the slightly game kids on the local estate. Usually appearing alongside a Sprayway Jacket and a pair of well-worn Farahs. The type of character that sported Patrick back then has given the brand a prestige that still stands to this day.
Patrick has shifted and mutated over the years, but their latest AW26 collection demonstrates the brand is firmly back to its best. Great fabrics, heritage-inspired silhouettes, and of course an abundance of beautiful footwear and colourways. They’ve managed to bottle the nostalgia that we all know and love, but without ever tiptoeing into the realm of parody.
Footwear silhouettes like the Monza Runner and the Keegan Football Boot (Often the last thing you’d see before a career-ending Sunday League injury) helped Patrick make a name for itself in the beginning, but their AW26 collection shows they can turn their hand to apparel also…
On offer is a slew of delectable outerwear, including a lightweight rain shell, an insulated alternative for when the temperature dips, and an incredibly fetching stand-collar field jacket that has undergone some kind of dyeing ritual to achieve a deep patina.
The outerwear offering proves that Patrick hasn’t lost that eye for fine fabrics and choice colourways that they first became revered for.
And that’s something that translates onto the footwear too – silhouettes like the Rio, Dijon and Monza arrive in an entourage of great palettes, ranging from Navy & Orange, Cream & Forest Green and even a beautiful IKEA-inspired Blue & Yellow on the Forza Runner.
The campaign images seal the deal. Restrained, shadowy visuals highlight the gear without taking away from it. It’s mature, considered and premium – much like the product itself.
Just as we mentioned in the introduction, this release is very much Patrick back to its best. The brand has come a long way from its adjacencies in the ’90s, and if this collection is anything to go by, they’re only heading in one direction.
