Berghaus and Pop Trading Company have got together again on a new collection for people whose day might involve a walk, a skate, a train into town or all three.
As has been well documented on these here pages Berghaus brings sixty years of outdoor know-how from the North East of England. Pop Trading Co brings an Amsterdam skateboarding sensibility and a good eye for colour and detail.
Like all good collabs, this link up occupies the spaces inbetween both brands, rather than simply stamping a logo or doing an SMU. It’s mad what some brands get away with in that respect. With Pop Trading Company you know there will be a strong smell of creative spirit sprinkled all over it, and Berghaus’s place in culture was cemented long ago.
The collection runs from technical jackets and fleece through to sweats, jersey and accessories. Berghaus’s Hydroshell® fabrics and practical construction sit alongside garment dyeing, heavy washes, batik and embroidery. In other words, it’s gear made to do a job, with enough character that you’ll want to wear it when there’s no particular job to do. That’s probably the appeal. Most of us don’t have separate wardrobes for the great outdoors and going to get a coffee. Berghaus and Pop seem to understand that the same jacket can do both.
As a way to showcase the gear, and also put it to a stern test, Mats and Noah, two best friends, hit the road in the Berghaus & Pop mini campervan. The campaign brings together Pop’s playful skate spirit with
Berghaus’ passion for the outdoors and exploration.
