We don’t talk about football enough on here. I usually avoid it because of a love/hate relationship for my own ailing team. But they’ve played five games this season so far and currently sit in 3rd place of their pub league (Conference North, pfft) having won 3 and drawn 2. So I like football, now.
The thing with non-league is it’s like another world. The players are largely unknown, even google sometimes shrugs at my searches on new signings. The league is sponsored by little known Jako, who provide balls and training tops. It’s all a parallel universe.
Happily though, I’ve just had one of those PR emails which tells me about the new Champions League ball. Yeah, excited about a football, what a virgin I’ve become. Could be worse though, no? Anyway, according to the press release “The ball will be used throughout the Group Stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League – the world’s most prestigious club competition.”
They’ve obviously not been to Vauxhall Motors away on a November Tuesday night.
Seriously though, it’s a proper nice football and having realised when I was about 12 that it’s the cultural bits and bobs that are interesting about football, this floats my boat, lights my candle, ticks my (6 yard) boxes and generally adds to my general feeling about football being really nice again.
That can only be a good thing can’t it?
