‘Hu is short for human – human being, human race, humankind but Hu, itself is also a reference to colour. As human beings, we all have a colour. We all look different, we all speak different languages, but we’re all connected.’ says main man Pharrell who’s been passing the peace pipe with some immaculately attired native Americans in this ace film promoting his colourful new collection for adidas Originals. The idea behind Hu being to celebrate the spirit of equality, acceptance, co-existence and understanding of different cultures and countries by featuring flags, stripes, and translations of the phrase “Human Race” in English, French, and Japanese. This multi-coloured and multi-cultural melting pot that makes up Pharrell’s vibrant 19 piece collection also reminds me of Benetton’s heyday and the bold hues favoured by the Paninaro scene. Which is never a bad thing is it?
