While not necessary, it’s always nice when a pair of trainers has a bit of backstory. The latest adidas ZX 500 RM commemorates the infamous 1976 Olympic marathon race, where the odds-on favourite, American Frank Shorter, was overtaken at the last minute by a mysterious ‘imposter’ who shot to victory seemingly out of nowhere. Spooky.
Backstory aside, the trainers are a bit tasty in their own right: the combination of ripstop and suede; the Bold Gold colourway; the Boost wedge sole; and best of all, the cheeky ‘tache on the inner label. Probably won’t make you a marathon winner, but will look pretty darn good with whatever else you’re doing.
