I’m gutted. Just been told the Brian Wilson gig I had tickets for has been cancelled. Never seen him before and considering he’s about 200 I may not get the chance again either. Naturally, the exact thing I didn’t need once I’d stopped silently, tearfully singing God Only Knows into a broken bathroom mirror was loads of clothing that looks like the Beach Boys wore it back in the day. At least I’ve got something to spend my ticket refund on.
Famously, their original name was the Pendletones because of the Pendleton shirts they all wore. But if you could reinvent a look for them at their peak you wouldn’t go far wrong with this latest collection from Beams Plus.
Open-collar shirts and striped cardigans look particularly great, and demand you accessorise with some sort of pipe, which Brian would no doubt requisition for use in the studio. The familiar hooded smock jackets and striped tees which Beams Plus always do so well continue to be the mainstay of the range and as ever, you’re not going to need to dip your Nannas purse (again) to afford it.
