Occasionally, mountaineering brands can feel a bit… ‘samey’. And most of the time, that’s fine. Functionality is key. You’re probably not going to give much of shit about how funky the design of your jacket is when you’re halfway down Snowdon and its pissing down with rain. In fact, you probably only have two things on your mind… why didn’t you get the train back down and thank god you’ve got a Columbia jacket keeping you warm and dry.
With that being said, it’s refreshing to see an iconic outerwear company such as Columbia release a collection so heavily focused on design. This release comes in the form of a collaboration with American fashion heavyweight Opening Ceremony. The team up sees a collection richly influenced by Columbia’s designs throughout the 80s and 90s, and nods to current street style trends with vibrant colours and bold logos. Stand outs include the 3-in-1 Powder Keg Interchange Parka and a reversible Omni-Heat thermal reflective long sleeve.
The Columbia x Opening Ceremony Fall 2018 collection will be released on November 12th and available at www.openingceremony.com, and exclusively at Size? stores in Carnaby Street in London and Les Halles, in Paris.
