This high falutin piece of headgear from Dries Van Noten takes its printed design from the frame of one of the experimental filmmaker and modernist sculptor Len Lye’s works. Originally from New Zealand, Len became a big noise in the post-war New York art scene which is where he made the film ‘Color Cry’ where this hat gets its name from.
Using various stencils, fabrics, and instrument utensils to create additional images and textures on the celluloid his influence continues to be felt in the modern art world to this day.
