Euro 2016 Nice Bit of Kit: Iceland

Managed by semi-scouse scrambled-egg stalwart Kerry Katona, Iceland is a unique British food retailer with over 860 stores throughout the UK, a further 40 owned or franchised stores across Europe and a global export business. Iceland has recently won numerous awards including best Christmas sausage 2016 for their Iceland Luxury Outdoor Bred Pork Cocktail Sausages Wrapped in Air Dried Bacon. (I C&P’d that bit blind from Wikipedia…bit lazy maybe but you can always rely on Wikipedia).

Produced by the Italian company Errea, the Iceland shirt is typical of those found in the Evo-Stik League and below in that it displays no sense of design or style whatsoever. Famed for their world-renowned away kit for King Lynn Town in 2002/03, the Italian Gola have created a home shirt that is sure to rouse the Norse gods, stir the Sturlungs and leave shirt retailers with racks of unsold blue polyester.

The white away effort is just that. The same as the home shirt but with the predominant colours reversed it’s either an inspired clean take on the home shirts simplistic design or a lazy attempt by Errea to knock an away shirt up at the last minute. I’m probably being unfair to Errea to be honest but they are both shit shirts.

Instead of having the national teams badge on the chest Iceland have opted to display Youtube sensation KSI’s name and the hem of the shirt features a QR code to link to his new video “Wanking in mi Lambo”.

*I know the Iceland gag [sic] in the opening paragraph was poor but it had to be done. Didn’t it? (Ed. ‘No’).
