Helmut Newton: World Without Men (Taschen)

Taken between the mid 1960s and the early 1980s, ‘World Without Men‘ elegant collection of Berlin born Helmut Newton’s fashion editorials and accompanying anecdotes about what was happening behind the scenes is one of the first books ever published by the great man. Though sadly passing away in 2004 the legendary fashion photographer’s inimitable work is still in a league of its own, with even his earliest work possessing a very contemporary if not timeless appeal. His boldly lit and strikingly sexy photos brought Helmut celebrity status via his appearance in French Vogue back when they weren’t scared of pushing boundaries or a little controversy. Beautiful women, beautiful clothes, beautifully shot and with an added atmosphere of classy deviance, what’s not to like?
