Less is more and Stone Island… There’s a few words you never thought you’d see in the same sentence. The Italian brand is revered for its complex line of apparel and infinite garment-dyeing recipes – put simply, minimalism isn’t something Stone Island regularly chases. But as we head into the New Year, the label’s aesthetic seems much more refined rather than ‘look at me’.
Take this all-black overshirt as a prime example. Yes, it’s garment-dyed, yes, it’s fully loaded with quality, and, yes, hours and hours of expert craftsmanship have been poured into the silhouette, but, it’s fairly minimalist on the surface. A swatch of tonal branding graces the chest in an unassuming move from Carlo Rivetti’s label, however, the iconic compass patch still sits in pride of place to the sleeve. Seam stitches, a two-way zipper and the hemline all blur into one with a black out formula.
