[Mix] DJ Jaffa : A Proper Hip Hop Mixtape

Time to switch things up mix wise – I’m fortunate to be of an age to have experienced the arrival of (Electro, then) Hip Hop over on these shores and more importantly enjoyed it’s heyday between the late 80’s/early 90s.

Someone who also embraced the musical revolution was DJ Jaffa coming (straight) out of Cardiff; he’s been honing his craft since 1985, so who’s better to select some choice cuts from that era. In his time he’s been fortunate to play alongside some of the greats: Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore, Cash Money, Snoop Dogg, The Jungle Brothers, Kool Keith, Masta Ace, Biz Markie, Ugly Duckling, Blade, Blak Twang, Public Enemy, A Skills, Dj Yoda, Ghostface Killah and the list goes on and on and on.

Jaffa has various mediums to make sure his mixes reach the people who know – either seem him in reals at a night called The Hold Up at the Moon Club in Cardiff or click away below to catch his output, and as you can hear from this mixtape – it’s the real deal.
