The Swiss maestro, Roger Federer, meets Swiss engineering in a typically technical tennis-inspired On CloudTec infused crep.
On are predominantly known for their running and hiking trainers. Fueled by the award-winning CloudTec technology, which is renowned for its superior approach to lightness, cushioning and comfort, all of On’s trainers are engineered for speed and support, which is a set of attributes that needn’t stay strictly on tracks and trails.
Federer knows a thing or two about suitable shoes for tennis, which is why he co-designed THE ROGER (all caps when you spell the man’s name, apparently) with the help of On.
The silhouette screams tennis and the soles scream sneaker, with both screams functioning to conceal the Cloud elements that are often the aesthetic centre of On’s other running shoes. The result is a shoe that benefits entirely from the tech but doesn’t need to rely on it to look good.
Conscious of the environment, the shoe is made from a vegan leather that carries roughly 30% of the carbon footprint of animal leather. On’s co-founder David Allemann, who, like Federer, calls the Swiss mountains his home, declared: “We love to explore and aspire to protect the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us. Hence why this new generation of tennis-inspired sneakers has been created with sustainability in mind.”
Allemann hints at an important final point. While the shoe will deliver exceptional performance on the court, it’s only tennis-inspired, meaning you can take the tennis-cool from a late morning session and cement into other urban environments with ease. Why should superior comfort be a domain purely for athletes?
