I really feel that everyone should be legally required to own a Ralph Lauren rugby shirt, not because I’m some kind of fashion fascist but purely because they’re a lovely thing to wear. Take this cross flag emblemed beauty for example, whose logo first appeared in 1987 and is rumoured to have kick started the Lo Life phenomena about which more can be gleaned from this incredible documentary. That year was pretty special for me too because Substance by New order came out and I got to spend the summer in Cape Code in Massachusetts listening to it on repeat which is pretty much the most Ralph Lauren place you can ever visit, apart from his ranch maybe. I wonder if Ralph likes New Order? Either way, I really like his rugby shirts.
