Stone Island is Still Modular

Stone Island made a name for itself because it was experimental. The brand introduced new technologies and fabrics in abundance. The Ice Jacket, for example, resulted in colours changing in response to temperature. The Tela Stella material was one of Osti’s first inventions to utilise garment dyeing and enzyme washes that resulted in hardy, military-inspired textures. There’s shimmers and reflectives gallor.

Importantly, SI also introduced shapes and styles. Many jackets are equipped with liners or removable inners, either buttoned in, zipped, or attached using the infamous Dutch Rope system. These modular advances often resulted in jackets having multi personalities: wearing a piece with or without a liner, or even wearing the liner without the jacket, presented you with multiple options.

In 2021, SI continues this. This Packable Ripstop GORE-TEX Jacket has a removable gilet that is just as good on its own as it is inside the waterproof, heat-taped jacket.
