Stone Island’s Piattina bomber is a lightweight masterclass in garment technology.
Stone Island are continuing their 40th anniversary celebrations with the release of the Piattina bomber jacket. Following a drop of embroidered tee’s and sweats, the jacket adds to a small collection of anniversary pieces that bear a dedicated ’82/22′ graphic.
The jacket itself shows Stone Island’s extreme innovation when it comes to the fabrication of garments. It’s crafted using canvas consisting of polyester monofilaments in the warp and flat nylon threads in the weft, providing a natural water resistance and also giving the garment its distinctive translucent appearance.
The Piattina jacket weighs in at only 200 grams meaning it’s one of the most protective, ultra-lightweight pieces on the market.
The ’82/22′ graphic to the rear of the jacket is crafted from black polyester and cotton, using a jacquard technique to get the tight-knit appearance of threads. When the piece is garment-dyed in the fabrication process, the black cotton takes to the colour of dye – in this case, bottle green.
