Stone Island Prototype Research Series 04

The fourth instalment of Stone Island’s experimental Prototype Research series focuses on an iridescent nylon metal fishtail parkas with manual flocking. Limited to 100 pieces the finished garments have undergone a cutting-edge artisanal flocking procedure, executed by highly specialised personnel where the parka is sprayed with a water-based adhesive and then exposed to the cotton flock.

During this process the creation of an electromagnetic field straightens the fibrils, which are attracted by the garment thanks to the uniqueness of this innovative technique. The garment then undergoes an elaborate double dyeing procedure providing highly contrasting colours between the nylon and the cotton flock. The two processes combine to deliver an unrepeatable effect that’s different and unique on each garment.

Exclusively available online from Thursday, 23 May starting from 3pm GMT at stoneisland.com and stoneisland.co.uk.
