This is what Stone Island is all about, making gear from mad iridescent fabrics that look exactly like what Harry Dean Stanton would have worn in Alien. The metallic, shimmering majesty of these garments comes courtesy of Stone Island’s legendary textile research combined with a new colour weft construction which provides an additional chromatic, colour-changing quality to the ‘Nylon Metal’ fabric. Everyone is going a bit nuts over this SS17 collection from S.I. with many people saying it’s their strongest stuff they’ve done in years. Which is high praise indeed considering just how consistently strong they’ve been over the years, though I do agree that there’s definitely something extra special about this new season and definitely some of founder Massimo Osti’s progressive and experimental DNA in there too.
