The highly anticipated Kazuki collection for TNF’s black label AW18 has arrived and it’s a marvellous marriage of premium materials, innovative design and minimalist Japanese style. The perfect man for the post Kazuki grew up in Northern Japan then spent his teens hanging mountain biking in Colorado before studying graphic design in NYV before heading back to Tokyo to intern with NIGO before becoming a bonafide streetwear legend. Talking about this collection’s influence Kazuki stated: “While inspiration was drawn from various fields, I focused on expanding the brand’s overall ‘Shelter’ theme, offering protection in an urban environment.” Adding “Yet, even though the clothes themselves aren’t simple, the clothes can be simply worn by anyone. I wanted to make each piece easy to wear.” Featuring 14 pieces that incorporate TNF’s ‘wearable technologies’ the collection includes three jacket styles, three tops and one pair of pants, each in two different colour ways. It’s all great but the Gore-tex smock has to be the standout piece for me and a serious contender for AW18 jacket of the years so far.
