Tokyo Design Studio x New Balance

I’m a little out of my depth when it comes to proper techy, Asian “sneakers” and Tokyo Design Studio’s work with New Balance has me sweating beads. It’s a typically Japanese adaptation that takes iconic New Balance designs and merges them with modern twists to create a brand new silhouette: the RC-1.

The trainer features a breathable mesh base with accents in tonal cut-out suede overlays. The nifty two-piece Abzorb midsole and classic plastic heel add further to the hybrid look, making an aesthetically pleasing design that screams as much about New Balance heritage as it does about the future too.

Initially arriving in cool grey and a smoky black colourways, the RC-1 was released on October 6th, with a second drop in two other colourways set for release on November 2nd. They’re available from cool shops like Sneakersnstuff, if you wanna grab some. Which you probably should.

Absolutely well into house plants.
