You Must Create SS18

It feels weird anyone releasing a spring summer collection of anything when it’s minus nothing outside and those sneaky Russian beasts keep on coming back, but it is March – which is more or less spring.

To remind you that there are brighter days in sight, YMC’s SS18 collection hails us back to beach side holidays. Entitled ‘Wish You Were Here’ Kennedy Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Chris Kontos, shoots across his hometown of Athens, Greece, capturing a new interpretation of high season in the capital.

Influences like binocular-clad dads and feminine shapes of the ‘60s feature heavily, as does Mexican folk art and safari themed patterns. While light Italian linen blends and British waxed cotton find themselves at home amongst this season’s varied cuts and shapes. Taking care of the colourways are ice cream pastels including soft pinks and greens contrasted by classic navy tones and ecru options.

The very, very Italian candy stripe zip shirts will look mint undone holding a big, massive cocktail at an all-inclusive resort, while the floral button-up shirts will do the trick for an evening of karaoke down the local Irish bar.

Oversized cropped peg trousers and a range of understated Japanese selvedge denim accessories (see striped totes and bucket hat options) and handmade suede desert boots sit alongside a re-imagined boat shoe model that opts for a sturdy synthetic sole for a new aesthetic.

Grab yourself Mojito, put up your feet, drool at the lookbook below and make summer great again. Refreshing.

Absolutely well into house plants.
