An Illustrated History of Film Making (Nobrow)

If you’re a regular reader of Little White Lies, have a pass to your local indie cinema and worship Wes Anderson like some kind of corduroy clad God then this book needs to come and live on your shelf. Whilst it’s an authoritative and informative read on the world of cinematography from shadow theatre through to CGI and beyond it’s the illustrations that are the real stars of this show. Imagine Mark Kermode transforming into Hergé‘s Tintin and taking us all on a thrilling celluloid adventure where we get to find out everything we always wanted to know about the movies but were afraid to ask. This info-graphical masterpiece comes courtesy of Adam Allsuch Boardman who has just completed his BA illustration degree at the leeds College of Art and clearly ‘knows the script’ given the incalculable amount of painstaking detail and hard graft he’s into this book. Now all we need is somebody to turn this magnificent book into a full-length, animated blockbuster movie, has anyone got Ari Folman’s number?
