Nanamica’s SS22 is a poignant reflection on presentism, delivered through the mediums of poetry and clothing.
Nanamica’s SS22 works around the prospect of “life tech wear that fills the heart,” which is a rather endearing way of looking at the powers of well-made clothing.
To set the scene, Nanamica summarises the brand’s ethos with a poem:
I took a deep breath and exhaled.
The scent of sprouting flowers is subtly mixed in the pleasant breeze.
The sunlight is warm and illuminates the surface of the sea and continues forever.
I feel the best.
The sand carried by the waves and wind has spread complex colors over a considerable period of time.
“Now, what should we start with?”
And while not exactly Mishima – perhaps we can blame Google Translate for that – the poem does contain lovely themes, bringing us into the present so that we’re suitably ready to feel the comfort of well-made clothes. Inhale. Exhale.
So, where do we start?
Nanamica’s Deck Jacket is a forward thinking taffeta masterpiece, complete with a proud criss-cross ribbed collar and tennis ball pocket duad that rides the line between sophistication and relaxation.
There’s a 2L Gore-Tex mac that has pockets full of secret specs.
