Allow me to introduce you to one of my new favourite brands Black Mountain Clothing whose reinterpretations of vintage pieces into high performance outerwear could really not excite me any more. Their absolutely incredible Explorer MK1 jacket being a great example of the brand’s knack for apparel alchemy as it references 1980’s British Antarctic expedition jackets whilst also being one of the most technically advances jackets in it’s field today. Similarly their Creek jacket is a classic down number but with RECCO avalanche technology and an outer-shell fabric made from lightweight Japanese 3 layer high-tension lightweight nylon. They’ve taken the the old and combined it with the new to devastating effect or like the saying goes ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, just make one with high-end breathable Italian water-resistant fabric and heat sealed seams as well’.
