Chapman Dunmail Collection

Kings of the bag makers Chapman have created their latest collection in honour of the last King of Cumbria.

The legendary King ‘Dunmail’ who after his demise apparently had his crown thrown deep into Grisedale Tarn by his faithful warriors after a bad result on the battlefield. Although the crown has yet to be found there’s a stone cairn marking his final resting place for those of you who like a bit of ancient regal stone-work to paint the picture. The Dunmail collection features three styles, all named after locations close to the king’s cairn: the Helvellyn  Rucksack, Grisedale Satchel and Patterdale Pouch which come in the Cumbrian colours of Slate Blue and Graphite Grey. Also inspired by Cumbria’s popular outdoor pursuits the collection features a unique toggle fastening  inspired by a traditional fishing float, made from turned and waxed domestic ash and finished with marine quality paint. If you already own a Chapman bag then you’ll already know just how beautiful they are but if you’ve yet to indulge then take it from me they’re fit for a king, Cumbrian, ancient or otherwise. Available here.
