Denmark’s Les Deux presents SS24 with ‘The Journey’

Practical workwear-inspired pieces, light layers with a retro twist and simple street styles all inspired by a road trip along Route 66, complete the Les Deux collection for SS24.

The Danish brand’s exploration of texture continues this season, with soft bouclé, luxurious merino, durable twill and shaggy, long-haired suede featuring within the range. Spring knitwear is also a prominent feature.

“We’re starting to develop our own tone of voice as a brand, especially in knitwear,” says Creative Director Mathias H. Jensen. “Obviously, when you hear the word knit you think of cozy winter styles, so we’ve taken that idea and turned it on its head. Roundnecks and knitted shirts like the Garrett and Easton are classic, vintage-inspired styles. Crafting them in cotton with a wide stitch keeps them fresh, light and versatile.”

Founded by two friends from different backgrounds, the Danish brand’s signature style combines preppy with street and nostalgic with modern, and this season is no different. Workwear-inspired style appear prominently in The Journey and is juxtaposed with intricate and detailed patterns from yesteryear.

“We drew a lot of inspiration from practical, functional styles for The Journey. Things like khaki twill overshirts, sandy canvas jackets, and denim,” adds Jensen. We always look for contrast in our collections and we settled on watercolour style artwork prints and paisley, with its bohemian heritage and delicate pattern. It’s not just a different vibe, it’s a completely different history than some of the more utilitarian pieces in the range.”

Departing from their usual setting of New York for campaigns, Les Deux explored another iconic American location for the shoot for The Journey.

“The Journey was shot in LA and the surrounding desert and we wanted the colour palette to almost blend into that setting. You’ll see lots of sandy tones, dusty khaki, pineapple yellow, a deep terracotta orange, and a couple of light orchid lilac styles, just to add some pop,” Jensen says.
