Draplin Design Co: Pretty Much Everything

DDC15_20178_CASE_r3.indd

The aptly titled ‘Pretty Much Everything‘ is quite possibly one of the best looking and well put together books that I’ve ever read. Which I suppose is exactly what you’d expect from Aaron James Draplin whose genius use of thick lines, warm colours and killer fonts has seen his graphic designs popping up all over the place, from the Obama administration to Patagonia tees, everyone loves a bit of DDC.  As well as providing a visual showcase of his impeccable work to date so far, Aaron also offers an altruistic insight into the secrets behind his success, which appears to be a combination of immense hard-work, a wealth of natural talent and plenty of that good old American can do attitude. Draplin Designs Co. first came onto my radar via their amazing Space Shuttle images in 2011 as well as their Field Notes books though having now read through this book it appears they’re also responsible for loads of other amazing images and logos that I had no idea was them. This book is part design reference, part inspirational business manual and 100% a work of art that I really can’t recommend it enough.
