Though I appreciate her musical output from the sixties it’s her posthumous vocals on the Italo house classic ‘J.J. Tribute’ by Asha that I will be forever grateful to Janis Joplin for. Oscar nominated director Amy J. Berg has made her own tribute to J.J. by way of an incredible new film about the original rock chick titled ‘Janis Little Girl Blue’ revealing the real woman behind that voice. Featuring some brilliant archive footage alongside fascinating personal correspondence and contemporary interviews it’s an enthralling film that will capture your attention whether you’re familiar with Joplin’s work or not. As part of their Dogwoof films series, House of Vans London will be putting on free screening of the film starting this Thursday at 7pm down at their London Cinema. There will be a limited number of walk-in tickets available on the night but you’re probably better off booking in advance here.
