Contrary to what your average decent trainer/shoe emporium would have you believe, there are people out there whose feet stretch beyond a size 11. And for those of you with bigger than ‘average’ plates of meat, I’m sure that like myself you gave up bothering to visit these size-ist shops a long time go. And for those that harp on about epic quests to find rare trainers back in the day, you should have tried digging out a pair of made in France Stan Smiths in a size 48½ , not easy. Any way, I’m here to let my ample footed brothers know that those dark days are over, because I’ve discovered a very credible site that actually stocks the kind of trainers that you actually want to wear. Which means no weird sci-fi basketball boots, no snidey ‘dad labels’ and no extortionate shipping fees/waiting forever from America. SoleStep is a refreshingly cool site that on my immediate discovery I didn’t realise was all about bigger sizes, which says it all really. Though there’s something here for all tastes (including Converse, Lacoste, Havianas and Timberland) it was the range of Nike models that truly impressed me. Pre-Montreals, Air Force 1s, Air Max, Vortex, Elite, Cortez, Blazer, Vengeance.. the list is longer than my sock drawer and apparently they’re due a stock of New Balance soon too. So pull your cramped toes out of those size 11½s and throw them in the bin, SoleStep are here and they DO have them in your size!
