Michael Halsband for Analog Permanent Light Archive

Thanks to central heating and down jackets we can still get away with wearing t-shirts this time of year which is good news for skate, surf and snowboard brand Analog and their Permanent Light Archive project. For AW12 they’ve teamed up with legendary photographer Michael Halsband to produce four print tees featuring his impressive shutter work. A native of New Yorkand student of the Schoolof Visual Arts, in 1979 Michael established his own portrait studio. Where he shot anything that captured his imagination; most noteworthy from this period is his portrait of artists Andy Warhol & Jean-Michel Basquiat wearing boxing gloves and shorts. From this success he went on to work as tour photographer for The Rolling Stones’ 1981 North American tour and AC/DC’s in 1996 and 2000. In 2003 his first commercially released film titled SURF MOVIE: reels 1-14 was released, this was accompanied by his 2005 book release ‘Surf Book’ which was a portrait of surf culture, through the people who have shaped it over the last 50 years. The four prints which adorn his PLA collection showcase every aspect of his work, from concert photography on the Encore and Sign of the Horns tees, to the still life work of Plugged In and the candid portrait of a girl on the Shadow tee.
