As official sponsors of the Virgin Money London Marathon New Balance are releasing two new 1500s inspired by this legendary race. Both limited one will be available to buy from select retailers whilst the other is unavailable to purchase anywhere in the world and instead will have to be earnt by completing the ‘1500 Pub Dash’ challenge. These made in the UK 1500s features a premium pigskin and mesh upper and a marathon friendly ENCAP midsole and paying homage to the 40th race by bearing the numbers ‘2:11:48’ which is the marathon time set by both Dick Beardsley and Inge Simonsen in the inaugural 1981 London Marathon.
To be in with a chance of getting hold of a pair you first have to sign up here or in the Oxford Street store then on October 3rd you have to do a 2.62 mile run on a route that incorporates your local pub along the way. Once there you’ll need to take a picture of yourself outside(you don’t need to go in) it and then post it to your Instagram feed (which has to be public) or story, making sure to tag @newbalance, @runtheboroughs and #1500pubdash. Sign up closes on Friday the 2nd of October and 40 winners will be selected at random and sent their ultra-limited 1500’s along with an exclusive post-race package. Amazing though this is I’m now imaging if I’d won a pair of trainers every time that I’d ever run to a pub how many I’d have and how big the warehouse would have to be where I’d store them.
