What I love about this substantial sports shoe is that when the AIr Max 98 first popped up it got sidelined somewhat by the arrival of the Air Max Plus later on that year. It was almost forgotten and unfairly slated by some for daring to have the same sole unit as the previous year’s Air Max 97, which itself was an instant hit it has to be said. Despite initially being consigned to the more forgotten corridors of footwear history, over time the 98 grew in popularity and the Air Max 98 finally gained all the recognition and love it finally deserved. This latest version is a perfect reminder of everything that’s great about the 98 with it’s sturdy front section and ribbed sidewalls, it’s also a trainer that isn’t taking any prisoners.
