The Denim Doctor, Spring clean your selvedge

Now the sun is out and the wardrobe needs a bit of refreshing, why not save a few quid by giving your beloved old jeans a bit of a remix? Speaking of which, when it comes to denim, we’re constantly being asked where is the best place to get a pair of jeans altered or mended.
Should I trust my vintage big Es in that dodgy place underneath the newsagents? Will the Polish girls at Stitches understand just how important keeping my rainbow selvedge is to me? Can Grandma’s Singer really handle a pair of 14 ouncers? Whilst we’re not dis-crediting any of those alteration avenues, we feel we can now recommend a place to take (or post) your beloved denim to, safe in the knowledge that your coveted cotton kecks will be in good hands. From walking into the beautiful Victorian building that is James Binney house (above Tom’s Chop House) to chatting with the affable and knowledgeable bespoke tailor Mike AKA the Denim Doctor, a trip to the doctor is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Combining their serious sartorial pedigree with a lovely looking chain-stitch machine (rescued from an ailing Northern mill) Mike is now the go-to-guy for all your future alterations whether you’re popping in on your lunch break or sending from afar.
