On paper this really shouldn’t work. American counter/pop culture and classic English shoe-making? Really? But somehow it works really, really well and has actually got me hankering for a pair of super suave suede penny loafers with Charlie Brown’s face embossed on them. Plus I guess the birth of that preppy Ivy league look does have a natural resonance with the Peanuts generation which is exactly why they’ve gone for two suitably collegiate Peppermint Patty friendly styles. Featuring either Charlie, Snoopy or Lucy the collection consists of a beautifully crafted ‘Penny’ loafer and a ‘Derby’ saddle shoe with each having been benchmade at Grenson’s legendary Northampton factory using the finest suede, calf and nubuck. The different colourways used also represent the three different Peanuts characters featured which of course includes Chuck’s classic black and yellow combo.
