David Keyte, founder and designer of one our favourite labels ‘Universal Works’ has decided his own wardrobe needs some additional key pieces, this time in the form of socks.
Whilst visiting one of the family run factories David uses up in Nottingham, he asked if they could make him a pair of socks and so the collection was born…..Featuring several key styles the socks are not only distinctive enough to fly the universal works flag, they are also designed with comfit and fit at the top of the list of design features, there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ label in sight.
Rib
This Rib Sock is constructed using soft Cotton fibres with the addition of terry loops on the inside for a great feeling and to create a high quality finish. Additional nylon provides durability and a comfort in to the sock.
The styling of this sock was developed in the 1970’s to be worn with jeans, at the beginning of the “trainers and jeans” look , now proving the test of time.
Diamond,
A 100% cotton yarn sourced in the UK, the sock design incorporating a classic diamond rib pattern of old timers socks but in a chunkier style more friendly to your big brogues. These socks and in fact all our socks are knitted in the UK by a fifth generation family business established in 1886.
Seaboot
The Seaboot is a very traditional sock based on a longer version of a style created for fisherman more than half a century ago. Originally knitted in oiled wools to protect against the elements and keep the wearer’s feet dry and warm, with cleverly knitted Achilles protection, this lower styled newer version the perfect sock for deck shoes and shorts.
Walkers Sock High
Feet will never feel more comfortable than when wearing these technically designed premium socks. Manufactured using a mixture of natural cotton, and Wool Ultra® yarns this sock provides comfort and high performance. The Wool Ultra® part of the sock helps to minimize blisters and has natural anti-microbial characteristics.
City Sock
This sock is manufactured using natural combed cotton. The cushioned loop sole provides the wearer comfort combined with a smart design. The additional nylon ensures a good fit and durability. The comfort underfoot is based on the full spec hiking sock but the upper having the style of a sock to be worn everyday and with any shoe.
