Universal Works Rose Bowl Jacket in Indigo Handloom Denim

If you thought that indigo dyeing fabric originated in Japan or America then guess again because it actually all kicked off in India. It still continues there to this day though mostly on a small scale, produced by village artisans on hand looms. Which is where Universal Works get their hand loom denim made supporting small local businesses in Gujarat and helping to keep alive these incredible traditional techniques. This hand loom method produces two different weights of fabric for UW (a true denim and a lighter shirt weight) that results in a genuinely unique and irregular fabric. Inspired by a vintage find in LA the appropriately named ‘Rose Bowl’ jacket is a prime example of this Indian indigo innovation that Uni Works love so much.
