Wellgosh just landed on a goody bag and it’s an oversized techy fit that blends together work from the likes of And Wander, NY’s LQQK Studio, Seoul’s THISISNEVERTHAT, Cav Empt and Nike.
Working from the top-down, it’s best to start with the And Wander softshell cap, which is an item that And Wander, in a variety of iterations, has become well known for. The softshell is multifaceted, transitioning into a neck warmer when needs be, with dual fastens that are incredibly satisfying to use.
Despite the love for multifunctioning hats, And Wander’s most idiosyncratic piece must be their down jackets with diamond stitching, armed with a Pertex Quantum nylon outer shell and Allied Down insulation, the latter a material with the highest quality RDS certified sourcing and traceability. The jacket’s pockets are finished with trademark And Wander rimmed detailing.
Moving down a layer, NY’s LQQK Studios is a newcomer at Wellgosh, but the brand has been on the radar since a hugely successful Vans Vault collaboration in 2018. The brand supplies a buttercream hoodie for a mid-layer, with a press-stud fasten at the neck – an underused and seldom seen alternative to a drawstring.
A tad closer to the pavement, there are cargos from THISISNEVERTHAT, which features two asymmetrical pockets that jut out at interesting angles. Whoever discovered that universal design rule that automatically makes something more exciting if it features angles needs a Wikipedia page.
A Cav Empt under layer finishes the look, as do a pair of the modern reinterpretations of Tinker Hatfield’s 1991 instalment, the Nike Air Huarache. The neoprene panels and synthetic uppers have never looked so good.
