You can’t really argue with Norse Projects’ claim “Good for all seasons” –since 2004 they have been making clothes to cover three basic essential areas: style, versatility and utility. The Copenhagen based company have in the past teamed up with Oi Polloi, Trickers, Elka (steady, we’ll get to that you eager beavers), New Balance, Goodhood and even Trentemøller.
That’s an utterly impeccable pedigree, no denying it. But you have to keep in mind, this comes from the country that has brought you such incontestable social and cultural achievements as Carlsberg Export (can’t be quaffing that green-tinned dishwater, it’s about as enjoyable as a kick in tusks), Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytales, Danish bacon, the lawn mower himself Stig Tofting and the Danish Women’s handball team.
The new collection for Autumn/Winter 2013 doesn’t disappoint either; with shades that match the upcoming season, but that also look belting right now, there’s some seriously nifty little numbers to be snaffling up from Peggs & Son.
Contrast knits like the bubble zip cardigan add a bit of texture into your clobber whilst also keeping your torso toasty. Further to this, it’s made from fine merino lambswool so it won’t be nearly as itchy as that Burberry cardigan I had when I was a kid, rolling about the gaff looking like I had fleas.
The Elka x Norse Projects wardrobe staple gets a new colourway, called “Andorra”, which to you and I is a deep shade of burgundy. Andorra being infamous for it’s love of burgundy. Furthermore, it’s made from 100% PVC. Essential elemental protection. The Elka brand is more commonly known for making outwear for fishermen, so you can’t knock their North Sea-faring credentials.
Speaking of which, you’ve also got Fairisle patterns galore, the Niels pocket tee in ember and fig being two noteworthy examples that let you release the fisherman inside. Carp catching class.
However, if you’re not inclined towards the open ocean and get a bit sea sick (note: if you do –never get the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam), you can chill out, kick back and scratch yourself in the comfort of the Ro Sweat Pants, with their button fly and tapered silhouette in grey and peppered navy colourways.
All available at Peggs & Son.
